About Dropbox
Dropbox invented painless sync, and its core engine remains the most reliable in the business. Block-level sync makes large-file updates fast, Smart Sync keeps local disks lean, and virtually every app on earth integrates with it. Plus costs around $9.99 a month for 2 TB on annual billing, with 30-day version history (180 on higher tiers). What keeps it from the top of our list is no zero-knowledge option at any price, persistent upselling of Sign/DocSend/AI features most people never wanted, and a meager 2 GB free tier. For teams deep in its integrations, still excellent. For fresh starts, the alternatives give you more.

Every plan Dropbox sells, with the yearly price next to the monthly one.
Plus 2 TB (annual)
- 2 TB storage
- Best-in-class sync
- Huge integration ecosystem
“Still the smoothest sync engine ever shipped, with the best third-party integrations. You pay for that polish per terabyte, the privacy model is standard server-side, and the upsells have multiplied. The default choice it once was, no longer. A good one, still.”Editorial team, via BackupShortlist
