About Apple iCloud+
iCloud+ is what storage looks like when it disappears into the operating system. iPhone backups run nightly, photos sync everywhere, and nobody ever sees a sync client. Pricing is fair (50 GB for $0.99, 200 GB for $2.99, 2 TB for $9.99 a month) with family sharing throughout. Two things elevate it beyond convenience. Advanced Data Protection, an opt-in that extends end-to-end encryption to almost everything including backups, and genuinely useful extras (Private Relay, Hide My Email). The boundary is absolute, though. On Windows it is tolerable, on Android nonexistent. Apple households should simply turn on ADP and size the plan to their photo library.
Apple online backup: what iCloud+ costs
Apple iCloud+ costs $0.99 per month, or $11.88 per year on the iCloud+ 50 GB (monthly) plan. There is a free tier as well. The top plan, iCloud+ 2 TB (monthly), costs $119.88 per year. List prices on annual billing, checked on 11 June 2026; paying monthly usually costs more.
Every plan Apple iCloud+ sells, with the yearly price next to the monthly one.
iCloud+ 2 TB (monthly)
- 2 TB + family sharing
- Advanced Data Protection opt-in
- Private Relay included
“For iPhone owners, the storage that requires zero thought. Photos, device backup, and files just work, and Advanced Data Protection brings real end-to-end encryption if you switch it on. Outside Apple’s garden, barely usable.”Editorial team, via BackupShortlist

Who is behind Apple iCloud+?
Apple iCloud+ is run by Apple. That is the name on your invoice, in the terms and in the company register, while the website itself shows only the brand. If you searched for the company name and landed here, you are in the right place.
Is iCloud backup free?
The feature is, the space is not. Device backup is included on the free tier, but that tier holds 5 GB, and a single iPhone with a normal photo library fills it long before the backup completes.
How much does iCloud storage cost?
iCloud+ costs $11.88 a year for 50 GB, $35.88 for 200 GB and $119.88 for 2 TB, all billed monthly. For a single user 200 GB is the honest starting point. Families with years of photos and video land on 2 TB.
What are the limits of using iCloud as your backup?
Two of them belong next to those prices. The 5 GB free tier is shared by backups, photos and iCloud Drive, so it runs out on the first device. And everything sits under one Apple ID, a single point of failure worth a second copy elsewhere.
