On September 8, 2026 the average across 8 providers with a verified price was $6.65 per TB per month, and IDrive was cheapest at $1.40. 4 providers also print what year two costs, and that second number is the one this market tends to hide.

- Internxtnot verifiedThe pricing page rendered the plan names and storage tiers, but every amount showed as a "€0" placeholder in two fetches. Our catalogue lists a lifetime 2 TB plan that is no longer on the page. Nothing could be verified, so no figures.
- MEGAnot verifiedThe rendered fetch returned an empty page (bot protection) and the static HTML holds only template placeholders such as "^{price}". Nothing could be verified, so no figures.

No figures until an amount can be read.
- CloudsLinkerno fixed quotaMoves data between clouds and sells monthly transfer volume (800 GB on Lite, unlimited on Pro at $69.98 a year), not storage. $3.33 a month billed $39.98 yearly, or $9.95 monthly; a lifetime plan is $138.80 one-time. No storage quota, so no per terabyte figure.

What does cloud storage cost per terabyte per month?
Across the 8 providers whose price we could read on their own page on September 8, 2026, the average is $6.65 per terabyte per month and the median is $5.90. IDrive is cheapest at $1.40 on its IDrive Personal 5 TB (yearly) plan; Koofr is the most expensive at $11.59. Euro prices are converted with the ECB rate of 2026-09-01.
Which cloud storage providers charge more in year two?
4 of the 19 providers print a separate year-two price next to the first-year price: NordLocker (2.14 times), Sync.com (2.00 times), IDrive (1.43 times), Carbonite Safe (1.26 times). The ratio divides the second-year annual total by the first-year total. The other providers with a verified price show one price and say nothing about renewal, which usually means the same price, but it is not stated.
Why is there no price per terabyte for some providers?
A price per terabyte needs a fixed storage quota. Backblaze Personal Backup, Carbonite Safe, CloudsLinker sell unlimited backup for one computer or transfer volume instead of storage, so the division has no meaning. Internxt, MEGA, Icedrive, Acronis True Image blocked our fetch or rendered their page without amounts, and we publish nothing we could not read. 4 providers have a figure with a different basis (a monthly billing price or our catalogue price) and are shown separately, outside the averages.
Methodology
Which plan. The plan we track for each provider in lib/data.ts (the recommended tier, mostly 1 or 2 TB), confirmed on the provider page on the measurement date. Where that plan no longer exists, the nearest plan by size. Comparing a 50 GB add-on tier with a 5 TB backup plan would reward small plans for being small, so we hold the plan constant per provider and let the terabytes do the normalising.
The division. Price per month when paying yearly, divided by the plan storage in decimal terabytes. Where a provider bills monthly only, or where only the monthly price was readable, the monthly price is used and price_basis says so. Filen sells 2 TiB, which is 2.2 decimal terabytes, and we divide by 2.2.
Year two. renewal_price_year2 is the year-two price per month (annual total divided by 12) when the provider prints a separate renewal or standard price next to the first-year price. renewal_ratio divides the year-two annual total by the first-year annual total. A struck-through standard price with a note that the discount covers the first year counts as a printed renewal price; silence does not.
Currencies. Several providers showed euro prices to our fetch. Those are kept in euros in the dataset and converted to dollars here with the European Central Bank rate of 2026-09-01 (1.159 USD per EUR). The conversion is derived, the local amount is what we read.
Statuses. Public: Storage and price both read from the provider page in this fetch. Counts toward the averages. Partial: Storage read from the page, but the price could not be read the same way (script toggle, no render, or monthly price only) and comes from our catalogue or from monthly billing. Shown with a marker, left out of the averages. Not public: The provider sells no fixed storage quota at a recurring price (unlimited backup, transfer volume), so no per terabyte figure exists. Not verified: The fetch was blocked or the page rendered without amounts. No figures.
