About Microsoft OneDrive
OneDrive’s best version is not sold as storage. Microsoft 365 Personal, around $9.99 a month, includes 1 TB of OneDrive plus Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, making the storage effectively free for anyone needing Office anyway. Windows integration is total (Known Folder backup quietly protects Desktop and Documents), the Personal Vault adds a locked area, and ransomware detection with 30-day file restore is genuinely useful. Three limits. Encryption is server-side, the 6 TB family tier splits as 1 TB per person (no pooling), and Mac/Linux clients trail the Windows experience. For Windows households, the math is hard to argue with.
